So as many of you are well aware, I was forced to start another Ketogenic Dog Group v2.0. So why did this happen?

When I made the Ketogenic Dog Group I was the only admin setup for that group , I did not have any other moderators or admins assigned. Huge oversight on my part. lesson learned. And sometime between Tuesday evening 4/20/21 and Wednesday morning 4/21/21 my personal Facebook page was hacked. I woke up early Wednesday morning 4/21 and I went to check the keto group as I routinely do every single morning for the past 4+ years, but this time something was different. Facebook said I was logged out and needed to log back in. And that was the first red flag that something was wrong because I NEVER log out of Facebook- . I tried re-entering my password and it doesn’t work, try again still doesn’t work. Then I check my email accounts and notice an email from Facebook of a password change around 3am that Wednesday morning from an IP address in another state. uh oh. So, long story short I spent the entire day Wednesday feverishly trying to figure out a way to fix this. And simply put, there is no easy way to fix this. Everything Facebook tells me to do in an attempt to recover my account ultimately leads me to a dead end. The last attempt led me to being prompted to send them pictures of Bank statements, marriage licenses, credit card statements, drivers license, some VERY personal information. At first , THIS sounds like the scam but after a lot of googling it appears this is “normal” procedure that Facebook expects people to blindly hand over this very personal information like this. This is something I am not comfortable doing. at all. The “least invasive” form of ID they were willing to accept is are two bills with your date of birth on it. I don’t know about you, but I certainly do not know of any bill that has my DOB on it, let alone being able to provide 2 like that !

But why did a new group have to be started?

So, since I lost access to my personal Facebook page, and since I was the only Admin of the group, and since every new member that tries to join the group needs to answer the admittance questions to get in, I was the only person allowed to approve or deny new members from getting in. So there’s no way for any new members to ever get in that group. Any person who needed access to that information to that group would never be allowed.

PLUS on top of that, every single group file is gone. Every single word that I typed and contributed in the 4 years was GONE. not a single digital “footprint” of my existence remained in that group. Every single conversation with members, every single post, word of advice, story, information, gone.

But here’s where it starts to get weird

It’s no secret that Facebook monitors and censors what Is posted and talked about on Facebook. It has become very apparent in other groups of Facebook monitoring what is being discussed. Especially in health related groups. that being said, Tuesday evening , the night before my account was gone, I had posted a quote from Dr. Ian Billinghurst – renowned Australian veterinary and who has become to be known as the “father of raw” and author of “Pointing the bone at cancer”, Billinghurst is a member of the Ketogenic Dog Group, and he posted a comment back in 2018 that I was paraphrasing in my post I made on that Tuesday evening. I had typed the words from his comment as follows “”the reason we are losing the war on cancer is because cancer is not primarily a genetic disease cause by genetic mutations as is currently believed”…. “calorie restriction and the ketogenic come into play. They are the modalities we must use no matter what else we do . we can defeat this disease”

Luckily , I screen shot his original post in my windows paint program and I cropped it and posted the photo into my post I made on that Tuesday evening. Luckily, I saved the copy of that screen shot on my computer because his original post is gone from the group. I have used my wife’s Facebook account to go into the original group and I have gone back multiple times searching the group for his comment and it is not there!

so, did that post which is clearly “not in line with mainstream medicine” have anything to do with my account mysteriously vanishing and Dr. Billinghurst’s original comment also mysteriously vanishing from the original group? I don’t know, but it is an awfully big coincidence if you ask me. I know “correlation does not equal causation” just because firetrucks are at every fire does not mean they started the fires, but I’ve been on Facebook for 12+years and not once ever had an issue like this with my account. Until I posted that and typed those words.

Definitely something that makes you wonder.

Time to move on

So , I couldn’t sit idle not knowing if I would ever be able to get my Facebook account back, I couldn’t let people be denied access to that group packed with so much information that helps dogs. we’ve seen it time and time again how Raw keto diets transform sick dogs and can even improve your average otherwise healthy dogs life. So I had to make a new personal profile and create a new Ketogenic Dog Group v.2.0 and we have to start all over. I have salvaged some of the group files that I started transferring over to my MeWe group (yes KDG is on MeWe too), but sadly most of the group files were not backed up and are lost for good as of now. We had a great following of several hundred original group members into the new group in just a few short hours of launching the new group. We had the largest ketogenic dog group on Facebook , with over 5.6k members. It’s sad to have to start this all over as 4+ years of my life was put in that group.
