As Dr. Sophia Lunt explained in the TEDx video above, Cancer cells thrive on sugar/glucose, so if we can effectively lower our serum blood levels of glucose in the body, and if healthy cells out-compete cancer cells for that available glucose in the blood, we can create a stress on that cancer by reducing or limiting its fuel supply. We routinely see dogs blood glucose levels drop in almost a 70% reduction when they are placed on a properly formulated Raw Ketogenic diet vs. a dog on a standard diet. This is a huge reduction of blood glucose. And we validate these glucose levels in our dogs by using standard glucose/ketone monitors. You can see in the photo below just how low we are able to get glucose levels in a dog on a high fat ketogenic diet. 30mg/dl vs a dog on a standard diet which typically very well stands to be at or around 100mg/dl

Of course, there are many other aspects of how Ketogenic Diets play a roll when we are implementing them as a form of metabolic therapy, it is much more in depth than the just sugar and glucose. More info on that can be found HERE
