Ketogenic diets have been shown to enhance wound healing and a great real world example is in Driver , a 4 year old Male Deutsch Kurzaar pictured below. Driver had an old wound on his nose that never fully healed properly according to his owner, until he was placed on a properly formulated home prepared raw ketogenic diet (KD). And within a few short months on a ketogenic diet you can see the improvement in the photo below. It’s also important to point out that Driver had previously been on a properly balanced raw diet for years so this improvement isn’t merely a case of switching a dog from a highly processed diet to a fresh food diet to achieve these results, rather these are improvements that can be attributed to the KD (Ketogenic Diet) as research shows, “KD enhances delayed wound healing via suppressing oxidative stress, modulating inflammation and collagen deposition, promoting proliferation, and enhancing angiogenesis” (Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones, which is essential for growth, development and wound healing)
