“Filomena went seizure free for 5 MONTHS! WOW!“

Filomenia is a 7 year old female French Bulldog with Epilepsy. Filomenia’s owner first reached out to get her started on a home prepared Raw Ketogenic diet following the Ketogenic Meal plan program back in the spring of 2023, reduction in seizures were observed with the introduction of the diet that summer of 2023. It’s very important to note that in Filomenas case, we were able to achieve positive results with a very reserved ketogenic ratio diet of 1:1. the keto ratio for epilepsy is further explained HERE but first please continue to read Filomena’s story below!

“HI! I am Ana and this is Filomena, a 7 year old epileptic French Bulldog. When Filomena was diagnosed, she was having long seizures on a 60 day interval and nothing broke my heart more than witnessing them, so I started my research on how I could best take care of Filomena and improve her prognosis. This is my first “full” time dog mom journey. When I started my research the first SCARE was when I came across the information about the dangerous side effects of flee and tick medications like SIMPARICA. The feeling of having FAILED Filomena was overwhelming and I IMMEDIATELY stopped the pharma promoted Flea and Thick medications even though prescribed by a reputable veterinarian. Because I have a friend with a child severely affected by epilepsy – who was successfully managing her seizures with a strict KETO diet – I started to research the possibility of replicating the treatment in dogs, and that’s when I found MIKE at KetoPoweredK9, an incredible person diligently trying to raise awareness of the benefits of KETO and the harms that commercial pharma DRUGS can do to your pet. Now, like a good Frenchie, Filomena is SUPER allergic… and February of 2025 she had a severe allergy outbreak, was miserable and once again I felt helpless and succumbed to commercial PHARMA drug prescribed again by a reputable vet. I am sorry to say I FAILED Filomena once again and put her on APOQUEL, without doing my due diligence. Allergy symptoms went away… but seizures started back at a frequency never seen before in OUR case – 3 seizures in 3 months! While feeling terrible about MY bad decision of putting her on this awful medication, I had to move forward. I immediately reached out to Mike, who promptly replied and shared information I had failed to look for. With that said, while I have failed Filomena a couple of times with the pharma promoted DRUGS, I have also found Mike and KETO! Filomena is OFF of dangerous medication and we are looking forward to being back on our 2 per year OR LESS seizure schedule. Again, I can’t thank Mike enough!
