- Looking for properly balanced Raw Ketogenic Meal plans tailored specifically for your dog?
- Worried if your dogs home prepared keto diet is giving them all the nutrients they need?
- Looking for an easy solution from someone with hands-on experience feeding keto?
- Are the limited options of “uber expensive” premade keto dog foods simply out of your price range?
I have Personally been preparing thousands of Raw Ketogenic meals for my own dog And have been helping countless pet parents across the entire world get started feeding Raw Ketogenic Meals to their own dogs following an intuitive easy to follow system
A home prepared meal should be FRESH, and have RICH COLOR and look like FOOD. Not some bland looking, lifeless, colorless mush that was mass produced and frozen into a hockey puck like a lot of manufactured Raw dog food is.
Let’s start by letting me share my own personal experience with my own dog Emie, and how we wound up to where we are at today.
My dog suffered from chronic yeasty ears for the first 5 yrs of her life eating kibble, she was overweight, and already showing signs of joint/muscle pain/stiffness by the time she was 4 yrs old and by the Time she was 5 she was diagnosed with MCT cancer. I immediately started her on a Ketogenic diet and never looked back. And YES, dogs with Cancer CAN eat RAW food.
Before we started feeding Raw Ketogenic meals she struggled to run just 4 miles, nowadays running 20 miles with me and going right back out the next day to do it again is not uncommon. I am an avid bicyclist/mountain biker and Emie loves running, so together we are out on the trails constantly. As of April 2022, we are now at our 5 year “Cancerversary“® . I’m happy to say we’ve had no further re-occurrence of her MCT which is a notorious nasty cancer that is very prone to rear it’s ugly head. Sometimes as soon as days or weeks after surgery.
We were able to slim her down an astonishing 17 pounds eating Raw Home prepared Ketogenic meals and has literally been transformed into a new dog. Her joint issues have vanished, and her yeasty ear issues have never returned.
If these pictures don’t clearly show the power of nutrition, I don’t know what does! If there was ever a silver lining to her cancer diagnosis, it was that it set me on a path to learn how to feed her the best way possible, and with that has led to helping countless other pet parents across the world with their own dogs.
Below are a Before and After picture of my dog Emie

Seeing the transformation in my dog has been nothing short of amazing. This is something that I believe in and have a passion for.
-Proper nutrition is a powerful tool-
Over the past several years since starting the Ketogenic Dog Group on Facebook , It has become overwhelmingly apparent that there is a major lack of resources out there to help pet parents put a proper Raw Ketogenic together. And further more, I think there are even less people out there who actually know how to feed it and have extensive experience actually implementing these programs with a dog.
Let’s face it, the few options that are out there for premade ketogenic dog foods are EXPENSIVE! How expensive? based on the prices of one of today’s most popular premade raw ketogenic dog foods, it would cost over $400 per month to feed my 50lb dog!. I know, Crazy right?
And furthermore, the limited options of ketogenic dog foods that even are available on the market are only lower fat 1:1 ratios. You cannot buy a premade raw keto food that is higher than 1:1 ratio. And with cancer and epilepsy we are using much higher 2:1 fat ratios.
And trying to figure out how to make an accurate ketogenic meal for your dog while ensuring all the vitamin and mineral levels are met is not an easy task for anyone to do.
And for the money you’d pay for those few premade options that are on the market, your money could be spent on much higher quality ingredients sourcing things yourself. And you are in control of every single ingredient that goes into your dogs diet. Nobody will pay attention to detail as well as you will for your dog!
And don’t be fooled by super easy Keto meals that only consist of 1 ground meat source, 1 veggie source , and 1 fat source. These are not complete and balanced meals. In fact, they don’t even begin to provide all the necessary nutrition a canine requires. You may ask yourself, “can’t I just add a multivitamin mix to fix all of this?!” Short answer? No. There is not one single multivitamin mix that will fix all of these issues, AND the vast majority of all canine multivitamin mixes are riddled with synthetic vitamins, fillers, carbohydrates and are sourced from unknown origins (usually china). And we don’t want to be relying on a vitamin mix to provide the majority of the nutrients anyway. If we’re going through the time, trouble, and money of feeding a home prepared Raw meal we should be using as much whole food as possible to provide the nutrients.
Read my personal experience about how I was affected by “Market Withdrawaled” dog brand specific premixed vitamins here
We should on rely on vitamins only when necessary*. And use the highest quality human grade such as NOW brand which has a long standing history and enforces some of the strictest testing to ensure safety and purity. No dog “brand” of supplements can ever come close to matching this.
Now, you may be telling yourself ” I’ve been feeding the “basic keto diet” and my dogs doing great!. Yes, most all dogs will show remarkable improvements once starting a fresh food/ Raw diet. It can take months or YEARS for them to show signs of nutritional deficiencies. And by the time they show them now we have a real problem on our hands. So the best strategy is to not let this ever happen in the first place. If we know certain nutritional needs should be met, we need to make sure the diet is providing them. And furthermore, if we KNOW the diet isn’t nutritionally complete we should be fixing it.
Now, we’re about to get technical so hold on tight! To highlight exactly what I am talking about regarding how “Basic” Keto meals fall embarrassingly short of meeting nutritional needs in a Canine, Below are examples of a basic Ketogenic meal that one may be familiar with. 80/20 Ground Beef, some broccoli, and Coconut oil mixed together in exacting proportions to achieve a 2:1 ketogenic ratio at 1,000 calories. And we threw in the basic minerals/seaweed calcium. Here you will see all of the glaring nutritional deficiencies such a plan holds.

Now lets start to take a look at the Minerals.
–please note that everything inside the red box is deficient–
Calcium, phosphorus, Ca:P ratio, Vitamin k, sodium, Magnesium, Chloride, Iron, Copper, Manganese, Zinc, Iodine and Selenium are all low. Not a single thing is right in this category.

Now let’s move onto the Vitamins
Again, Everything inside the red box is deficient from even meeting MINIMUM standards. Many key nutrients should be enhanced above the min. levels but this basic plan doesn’t even come close to that.

Moving onto the Fat analysis
La (Linoleic Acid) does not meet Minimum requirements, EPA/DHA is non-existent and omega 6/3 ratio is completely off the charts. Ideal range should be 2:1- 7:1 according to many researchers and this diet comes in at a staggering 13.9:1 ratio, which at that point is an inflammatory diet and inflammation is the one of the root causes of most diseases. Linoleic Acid (LA) is not even up to minimum levels either. And just one example of how important LA is to a dogs diet, Expert Canine formulator Steve Brown says this “lack of LA in the diet will cause the dog’s coat to fall out, make the dog sluggish, or eventually kill the dog.” – (source :Unlocking the Canine Ancestral Diet) .

Amino Acid Profile
These are all the essential Amino acids required in a dogs diet. They are essential meaning they MUST come from the diet. Taurine for example is not essential because dogs make taurine from Methionine and Cystine, so it’s important that Meth & Cyst are at adequate levels in a dogs diet so they can produce taurine, and as you can see not only is meth and cyst low, tryptophan is also low. And anytime just one EAA (essential amino acid) is low, it affects everything.
Think of it as a chain, the entire chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. So having just one Essential Amino Acid low effects the rest of the “chain” from doing it’s job!

So as you can see, a basic ketogenic meal is not species appropriate for a dog by any stretch of the imagination. So how can we fix this?
Easy

- Ketogenic AND standard RAW diets available
- A digital scale is a required to weigh food (under $20) along with basic comprehensive kitchen skills such as handling raw meat safely, measuring food items accurately etc. These recipes require you to weigh everything. including any vitamin/mineral supplements your plan may require. We are not measuring with teaspoons, tablespoons, or pounds.
- A digital milligram scale is required to weigh powders/pills etc (under $15) is a must to accurately measure out powders/seeds/vitamins. Teaspoons are not accurate!
- A spice/coffee grinder is highly recommended for grinding up seeds (hemp/chia etc.)
- Plans include the use of organ meats to bring in essential vitamins and minerals to the diet, which may take a transition period until your dog accepts eating them. texture and smell of organs can sometimes create an aversion to their taste-buds so additional work may be required to get your dog used to eating these. At a minimum we need to plan on using liver.
- The pet owner is responsible for the “legwork”of meal prep and feeding . Switching a dog to a Raw diet can sometimes be an arduous task as raw food is very bland in taste and smell compared to kibble which is flavor enhanced with spray on additives- I will offer limited support/resources in regards to this potential hurdle should your dog not be interested in the meals, this is up to the pet owners responsibility to overcome this potential hurdle. Using the KDG (ketogenic Dog Group) on Facebook is a great resource for tips on this topic!
- *Terms and conditions subject to change at any time
* Nutrient levels in fresh food may very, thus nutrient levels in recipes can fluctuate, user assumes all responsibility for these meals - Anyone requesting 2:1 or higher ratio recipes must fully understand that these diets are extremely nutrient deficient because so much of the diet is comprised of fat (80%). Therefore, it will require the use of additional supplemental forms of vitamins/minerals to meet min. nutrient requirements for these diets. Extreme requests like 3:1-4:1 will not even be feasible to balance nutrient levels.
- High fat diets cannot efficiently use lean proteins like fish, poultry etc, by default we primarily use red meat/ground beef/high fat percentages etc. Leaner meats are best reserved for lower fat ketogenic ratios 1:1 or less.
- Users accept full responsibility for these requests as these extreme high fat diets are reserved for short 120 day time trials and are never intended to be fed long term. That is why we use lower fat 1:1 ratios for long term feeding
- All ketogenic diets must be fed raw and never cooked. If you take it upon yourself to cook these diets you are increasing the chances of pancreatitis immensely. Our group has never had a reported case of pancreatitis when these meals are fed raw. The only reported cases are always when users take it upon themselves to took the meal.
- All sales are final. Digital information that is sent is very easy to duplicate and copy can not be “returned”
- Any diet change should be approved by your vet
- This website and/or provided nutritional advice of the meal plan program makes no claims of “curing” any disease.
Resources on where to obtain the various ingredients and tools/scales needed in the plans- I have compiled an easy way to source most of the things that will be required

In the words of our vet, Dr. Barbara Royal who we are very fortunate to have as Emie’s vet…..
” What have we done to undermine the innate health of our pets? Why are the animals in our homes riddled with disease? Why do we have more medicines for them in our cabinets than we do for our aging parents? Why do a record number of dogs suffer from cancer, obesity, diabetes, thyroid disease, and other disorders? Why do we accept this as the norm? Is it logical that a carnivore would be allergic to meat? should a 6 month old cat be plagued by allergies? Why have we come to expect arthritis in Labradors? Does this abysmally low standard of health make any sense at all? NOT IN MY BOOK”
–The Royal Treatment by Dr. Barbara Royal
* NOTES about high fat 2:1 ratios and supplements:
high fat 2:1 ratio meals will always require supplements. Since fat takes up SO much of the bulk of the meal and we only have so many calories we can feed any given dog to stay within the caloric limits of the daily diet, we run out of “room” to try and utilize whole foods for ALL of the nutrients. It’s the nature of the beast so to speak. So you may have to sacrifice a lower ratio (around 1:1) if you wish to use as MUCH whole foods as possible vs. supplements. In order to stick with a true 2:1 ratio will have to resort to supplements to make up nutrient deficiencies since we are reducing the amount of protein we can bring into the diet since so much of it is taken up by fat. But remember, we are using high quality human grade supplements, NOT “petfood” quality of unknown origin/quality with limited to zero testing ensuring their purity. My Custom Meal Plan will instruct you how to properly dose these human grade vitamin/minerals to ensure that your dogs meals are nutritionally complete and balanced. NOW food brand of vitamins and minerals are what I typically use. To read about NOW foods extraordinary safety and testing procedures on their products, click here
ALSO NOTE: WE CANNOT USE ANY SORT OF PRE-GROUND MEAT GRINDS/BLENDS/DOG FOOD BLENDS ETC. IN THESE RECIPES. THESE DIETS ONLY USE INDIVIDUAL SINGLE PROTEINS/MUSCLE MEATS/ORGANS
